    Attention! Those wishing to shadow physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, etc., must use the link for Medical Students and Others
    For purposes of the shadowing or observation experience, all participants are considered students.  This can include RNs, CNAs, respiratory therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, or other healthcare-related positions. 
    Please note that proofs of immunizations are required. Please see applications for details/

    • Mumps
    • Measles
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
    • Tetanus
    • Negative TB test (within the past 2 years)  If you do not have a current TB test, see your physician to complete this requirement.
    • Flu Vaccine- October 1-March 30

    The application processes are as follows:

    Shadowing is a short (1-3 day) observation experience providing exposure to healthcare occupations for your interest.

    Observation is a 36 hour or greater experience. This applies to students seeking hours as a requirement for application to specific healthcare programs.

    When forms are received by the Student Placement Coordinator, you will receive a confirmation email.  If you have been selected by the department/unit, you will be contacted to schedule an observation date and time.
      
    Attention!   When you have a shadowing experienced scheduled and arranged, you must provide a current Healthcare Background Check.  When you submit your application, an email will be sent to you with links to background check companies that we work with. We are not obligated to provide a shadow or observation experience because you completed the background check.  Only do so when you have a confirmed date and time.
    Please do not begin your Shadowing Experience until you have received an email, acknowledging the receipt and approval of your background check.

    Dress Code for the Shadow Experience:  Please present yourself professionally. Clothing should be neat, clean, pressed, and in good repair.  Acceptable attire may look like khaki pants and polo shirts with closed toed shoes, such as athletic shoes.  Shorts, sleeveless, and flip flops or sandals are NOT acceptable attire.  You may be on your feet and walking a lot, so please wear appropriate footwear.

    Please note: Because of the volume of the shadowing requests we receive, we are unable to grant all shadowing requests.  If you do not hear from someone in the requested department within two weeks, please note that we are unable to accommodate your request.
