• Volunteering Opportunities

  • We have a variety of volunteer opportunities throughout the hospital and we work to match each volunteer with the service area of their interest. Please read through the volunteer opportunities and responsibilities below prior to completing your contact information.

    Volunteer Opportunities at Littleton Adventist Hospital Include:

    The BirthPlace

    Volunteers help restock supplies, assist nurses, answer phones, assemble information packets.

    Courtesy Services

    Volunteers assist with flower delivery, locating wheelchairs and dismissing patients in them, escorting patients in the hospital and various errands throughout the hospital. Shifts are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to noon and noon to 4:00 p.m.

    Emergency Department

    Volunteers assist with preparing rooms for patients, restocking supplies, running errands for nurses and  providing comfort measure for patients and guests.

    Gift Shop

    Volunteers provide excellent customer service for patients, visitors and staff shopping in the gift shop. Volunteers answer questions, run the cash register and assist in restocking shelves. Shifts are weekdays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., 1 to 5 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m., Sundays, noon to 4 p.m. *Closed Saturdays in observance of the Adventist Sabbath.

    Information Desk

    Volunteers at the information desk are the first to greet patients and guests and serve as goodwill ambassadors to all who visit Littleton Adventist Hospital.  The primary duty is to direct guests to hospital departments. Shifts are Monday through Friday, 7:30 to 11:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 3:30 to 7:30 p.m.

    Infusion Center

    The infusion center provides chemotherapy and blood infusions for patients. Volunteers spend time visiting and getting to know patients undergoing treatments. Volunteers are the right hand assistant of the nurses, running errands and serving meal trays. Shifts are mornings, Monday through Friday.

    Intensive Care Waiting Room

    Volunteers provide compassionate assistance to family and friends of patients in the ICU, greet visitors at the ICU entrance and call the nurse prior to visitors entering the unit. Shifts are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

    Mail Delivery

    Volunteers pick up and sort outgoing mail and deliver incoming mail to over 65 hospital departments. Shifts are mornings, Monday through Friday. *This position requires significant walking throughout the hospital.

    Meal Assistant

    Volunteers work one on one assisting patients with eating.  

    Nursing Units

    Volunteers help restock nursing supplies in patient rooms, visit with patients, assemble packets for nurses and provide administrative assistance to nurses as well as the unit's secretary.

    Nutrition Department - Patient Trays

    Volunteers assist in assembling patient meal trays and accompany hospital staff to deliver trays to patients, visiting with them briefly. Shifts are 7:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

    Nutrition Department - Waiting Rooms

    Volunteers restock coffee supplies and deliver newspapers to waiting rooms throughout the hospital and conduct simple patient food surveys. Shifts are mornings, Monday through Friday.

    Dog Therapy

    Pet volunteers visit patients with their dog.  Dogs must be 3 years old and go through a strict behavioral and health assessment prior to being accepted into the program.  Pet volunteers commit to visiting patients two times per month. *Often there is a lengthy waiting list to enter this program.

    Surgery Waiting Room

    Volunteers provide compassionate care and communicate information to family and friends waiting for loved ones in surgery. Shifts are Monday through Friday, 6 a.m to 8 a.m,  8 a.m. to noon and noon to 4 p.m.
