    Medical Oncology

Medical oncology is the treatment of cancer with medicine, chemotherapy. Chemotherapy (often called chemo) is the delivery of cancer-killing drugs through an IV or by mouth. These drugs travel through the bloodstream to cancer cells throughout the body. Generally chemo is given in rounds, with each period of treatment followed by a recovery period. Chemotherapy may be used before surgery to shrink large cancers before surgery, or after surgery to destroy any cancer cells that may be left behind.

Chemotherapy treatments are given in our infusion centers by our chemo-certified nurses. We provide a comfortable setting for patients receiving chemotherapy and encourage them to bring family or friends for company and support during their sessions.

Littleton Adventist Hospital provides cancer diagnosis, treatment and follow-up services in collaboration with our board certified physician partners at  Mile High Oncology, located at 7780 S. Broadway, Suite 380.

    Surgical Oncology

Surgical oncology treats cancer through removal of tumors or cancer-infected areas. This is typically done in addition to treatment through chemo, radiation, or other targeted therapies. Patients will then stay on the inpatient floor for recovery.

The Breast Center at Littleton Adventist Hospital has received the "gold standard" in accreditation for breast centers nationally.
