  • Radiology Care Unit

  • If your doctor has ordered an image-guided or invasive test, you may be shown to our Radiology Care Unit (RCU).

  • The RCU is a specialized ten-bed unit for patients who require more complicated procedures. The unit is open Monday - Friday from 7 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. and our staff is available for emergency consultations and procedures 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

When you are admitted to the RCU, a complete medical history is taken and blood work is done to ensure that you are ready for the prescribed procedure. During your time in the RCU you will be cared for by nurses and technologists who will monitor your heart rate, blood pressure, respiratory rate, and oxygen levels.

Info on Radiology Care Unit in Littleton It's our goal to:

    • Encourage a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere
    • Prepare, assess, teach, and care for each person who walks through the doors
    • Provide the safest, most comfortable procedure possible
    • Explain what to watch for at home, what to do if problems arise, and when to resume medications and normal activities

Our staff suggests that patients bring a complete list of medications and doses taken on a daily or as-needed basis. Some medications like blood thinners can affect a procedure, and patients with an allergy to x-ray dye or contrast may need an allergy prevention preparation before the procedure. We also encourage family to attend the admitting process, since most procedures require the patient to be driven home afterwards.

Your safety and care is our number one priority. Please check with your physician before the test to see if you can have food or liquids before the procedure. Most procedures require that you avoid food for eight hours prior, and limit drinks to only clear liquids up to four hours prior.

If you or a family member has questions about the RCU, please call the unit and speak with one of our knowledgeable staff members at 303-738-2734.
