The Healing Garden

As part of our commitment to care for the mind, body and spirit, Littleton Adventist Hospital is opening a half-acre Healing Garden for the community, our patients, their families and our staff. The garden will open August 2009.
Featured in the Healing Garden are a host of smaller more intimate gardens each designed with a specific purpose:
| Children’s Whispering Wall with dedicated garden features including Flowers and Panels. |
The Fountain Garden is a small enclosed space for reflection. Boulders and a mix of plants enclose the space and a tiered waterfall drowns out distractions. Stone benches allow for a place to rest and be removed from surrounding activities.
The Sanctuary is designed as a small space for people to gather and share thoughts. Stone benches are scattered throughout the pavers and tightly spaced trees to create a shaded resting environment encouraging interaction between visitors.
The Whisper Garden is a place to encourage children to talk about their experiences, fears and hopes. The garden is identified with a large glowing whisper wall. As children speak onto one side of the wall their voice reverberates to the other side of the wall crossing lit panels that have words of encouragement. Whisper flowers will also be scattered throughout the area for children to speak into.
The Raking Garden is a place for adults and children alike to interact. A small area of beach sand highlighted with large boulders creates a place for play and creation.
Perspective Point is a large mound with dramatic rock outcroppings. As the most prominent piece of the garden, Perspective Point is a place to gain a new perspective, not only of the garden, but of all that life has to offer. Large swaths of grasses enclose two benches giving visitors a place to rest and enjoy the open air and sun.
