Breastfeeding Class

Food from the Heart. Breastfeeding creates a special bond between you and your baby. Beginning this process, however, is not instinctual - both mother and baby must learn it. Education and support are key elements in forming a successful breastfeeding relationship. We encourage moms and their birth partners to attend this one-night class to learn more about breastfeeding techniques to better prepare them for the birth of their baby.

Breastfeeding Class covers the following topics:

• Prenatal considerations and preparations
• Breastfeeding techniques and nutrition
• Caring for the mother
• Getting father involved
• Common concerns and solutions to sore nipples, engorgement and leaking  
• Pumping and expressing milk
• Storage and handling of milk
• Finding support 

Lactation Consultants or Certified Lactation Educators teach our Breastfeeding Classes. Some of these instructors are also Lactation Consultants at LAH.

Cost and Registration

$20.00 per couple or individual. Payment due at time of registration. Cost is reduced to $15.00 if you are also taking the Childbirth Preparation class.
