Women & Newborn Care

Our Women & Newborn Care Unit is dedicated to meeting the individual needs of each of our patients. We strive to provide services in which bonding and recovery can occur most effectively. Following delivery and recovery, you will be moved to our Women & Newborn Care Unit. Our hope is to foster a family-friendly environment with accommodations to aid in the comfort of your welcomed guests, as they come to meet the newest member of your family. We encourage you to “room-in” with your baby in order to become more comfortable with infant care.

To enhance your family’s stay, you will enjoy:

  • A large, comfortable family waiting area with a panoramic mountain view
  • Patient and family accessible kitchen and dining area
  • Family rooms in which newborns can room-in
  • Sleeping accommodations for your spouse or birth partner
  • Cable television, DVD players and wireless Internet
  • Quiet time, daily, with milk and cookies between 2 and 4pm
  • One complimentary meal for new dads
  • Sibling visitation.

Our outstanding team of professionals is available to provide the following postpartum care services:

  • Individualized education covering baby and postpartum care
  • Our lactation consultants are here 7 days-a-week to follow through on the feeding techniques you learned in your class and to provide moral support
  • Rental or purchase of a breast pump to use at home
  • Newborn photography, family web pages and photo sharing through Bella Baby Photography

Care of your newborn:

It is important to choose a pediatrician or family practitioner prior to delivery. However, a hospital pediatric provider will care for your baby during your stay.

Pediatric care for your newborn while you are in the hospital may include:

  • Examinations
  • Newborn and hearing screenings

If you need help finding a pediatrician or family practitioner who sees patients at Littleton Adventist Hospital click here or call ASK-A-NURSE® at 303-777-6877.

After you go home:

We understand that you may have additional questions or concerns after you are discharged. To help answer these questions, a registered nurse with special training in obstetrics and newborn care will call you at home a few days after your discharge. We hope this special BirthPlace service will give you added peace of mind to help you make a smooth transition from hospital to home.
