Littleton Adventist Hospital is sponsored by Adventist Health System (AHS), the largest not-for-profit Protestant health care organization in the United States, with 38 hospitals, 44,000 employees, 23 nursing homes and more than 20 in-home care agencies. The Florida-based Adventist Health System serves more than four million people each year and is one of several regional Adventist health care systems in the nation affiliated with the Seventh-day Adventist church.
For more than a century, Adventists have promoted the benefits of good health through their health care work in Colorado. Their first health care center in the State, Boulder Sanitarium, opened in the 1890s and was known for combining scientific treatment of disease with education in disease prevention--a dual focus which continues to be a hallmark of Adventist health care. Three more hospitals eventually opened, and today four modern facilities continue this legacy of serving the health care needs of people in the Denver and Boulder area.
The Adventist vision for improving the lives of people extends far beyond the state of Colorado, culminating in a system of health care that includes nearly 700 hospitals, clinics, nursing homes and retirement centers worldwide--each dedicated to helping people achieve physical, mental and spiritual wholeness.
