Sports Medicine
The Colorado Orthopedic & Neurosurgery Center at Littleton Adventist Hospital nurtures and treats each patient allowing them to live active, mobile lifestyles.

Our team of trained physicians, as well as a certified athletic trainer, focuses on the prevention and care of patients who endure sport-related injuries. Sport-related injuries are usually caused by overuse during a specific activity. We work with our patients to understand the importance of warming up and stretching to avoid such injuries. Common injuries include pain in the knee, leg, back and shoulder pain in the joints, muscle cramps and aches and several types of tendinitis.
Treatment of sports-related injuries often includes wearing a brace and undergoing physical therapy, and in some cases, surgery. There are many guidelines an athlete should follow to prevent sports-related injuries:
- Stretching before and after a workout or sport
- Drinking plenty of water
- Wearing the appropriate gear and equipment
- Resting
- Maintaining a good diet
