    Anticoagulants: Drugs that reduce the blood's clotting ability.
    Cerebral infarction: Death of part of the brain from lack of oxygen-carrying blood.
    Embolism: A clot that breaks loose and moves through the blood to the brain.
    Hemorrhagic stroke: A stroke that occurs because a blood vessel breaks open, causing blood to leak into the brain.
    Ischemic stroke: A stroke that occurs because a clot blocks a blood vessel that supplies blood to the brain.
    Occlusion: A closure or blockage of a blood vessel (a clot).
    Stroke: A brain attack that occurs because a blood vessel supplying the brain becomes obstructed or tears; a major medical emergency.
    Thrombus: A clot that stays inside an intact blood vessel.
    Transient ischemic attack: A stroke that occurs for only a few minutes when blood supply is briefly interrupted.
