Telemetry/Cardiac Observation Unit
Cardiac services at Littleton Adventist Hospital consists of two units, each staffed by a cardiac care team, dedicated to patients who may be having heart issues.
|
Telemetry Unit Telemetry is a technology that allows remote measurement and reporting of information. Patients in this unit include individuals who are at risk for having a heart attack, or recovering from a cardiac event or cardiac-related surgery. Each patient on the unit is connected to telemetry equipment that monitors the activity of the heart and transmits the data to a central nurses' station, where medical personnel can respond immediately. The telemetry unit provides continuous 24-hour-a-day monitoring of cardiac patients. |
Cardiac Observation Unit This unit serves patients who need short-term treatment for an emergent condition, such as chest pain, or overnight observation for a cardiac catheterization. The average stay in the Cardiac Observation Unit is 23 hours. Littleton Adventist Hospital was the first hospital in Colorado to be designated a nationally accredited Chest Pain Center by the Society of Chest Pain Centers. |
